Jack carried Brian over to the side of one of the vehicles where there was less of a crowd watching the drama. Setting him down onto his feet, he pressed their foreheads together. “What’s your name, sweets?”
“Brian Hayward.”
“When I’m done helping the rest of the people out of this situation, I’ll be back to ask you when you’re free to have dinner with me. Tell me now if I’m stepping on anyone else’s toes.” Jack wasn’t planning on backing off either way, but he didn’t want Brian thinking he was a complete caveman by dragging him off by his gorgeous blond hair.
“No, I’m not seeing anyone right now.”
“Great, I’ll talk to you later then.” Jack smiled and dropped a brief kiss on those pouty lips. The next instance Jack was making his way back into the building with the boss’s voice in his ear, telling him which rooms they thought other victims may be in.
Brian just stood there a moment, stunned by the events of the afternoon. Holy cow! He had just been asked out and kissed by a god. The next thing he knew he was being shoved from behind, skidding on hands and knees along the rough asphalt. Turning over onto his butt, he looked up into the face of a small angry blonde woman who was being held from behind by a police officer.
The crazy lady was kicking and screaming, “He’s my boyfriend. You leave him alone, he’s mine. You can’t have him. I’ll kill you.”
The police officer pulled the woman farther away from Brian and a couple more officers came to help him calm her down. Brian felt a hand on his shoulder and turned to see a police officer kneeling beside him. “You okay, buddy? Can you stand up? I think we better get you to the ambulance and let the paramedics check out those hands and knees.”
With the officer’s help, Brian got to his feet and slowly was led to the ambulance. As the paramedic cleaned the small pieces of gravel from his torn up hands and knees, Brian told the officer, “I don’t know why that woman attacked me. I’ve never met her before.”
The officer looked uncomfortable for a moment and said, “Sherry has been dating Jack Woods for a while now. Although, come to think about it, I haven’t seen them out together for the last couple of weeks. If you want to press assault charges against her, you’re within your rights.”
Brian’s heart plummeted. Here he thought he had finally found his white knight that he had been waiting for and the man had turned out to be a big fat frog. He just wanted to go home and hide for a while. He had been played for a fool and was so embarrassed. “No, I don’t want to file any charges.”
* * * *
“Damn it!” Jack hit the steering wheel of his truck in frustration, as he drove away from the rescue scene. The shooter had ended up committing suicide by cop, as many do. Jack and his teammates had gone room by room, finding anyone still in hiding. Then he had helped the paramedics treat any casualties before they were transported to the hospital.
All the while the paramedics filled him in on the circus that had occurred after he had left the pretty teacher to continue the rescues. Not only had Sherry injured the little man, but had also told him they were still together and threatened to kill him.
This totally blew his mind after the conversation he had had with Sherry this morning. Going over it in his mind one more time, he tried to figure out where he had been unclear with Sherry.
He had just arrived home after attending a meeting at his boss’s house. Walking into the kitchen, he intended to get something to drink, when his cell phone rang. Looking at the screen, he saw it was Sherry. Until a few weeks ago they had been dating on and off for about a year. Although the truth was they had been more off than on. He had to admit they had enjoyed some fun crazy times, but the deep down “I need you feeling” he wanted, just wasn’t there. He had tried to break things off, but she just couldn’t seem to get it through her head that he didn’t want to be with her anymore.
“Hey, Sherry, how are you?”
“Hi, Jack. Are you free tonight to go out to the hotel for dinner and dancing? I miss you.” Jack could hear the pout in her voice.
Sherry was five foot nothing, a hundred pounds if she was carrying a watermelon, blonde, and blue eyed. Although the last couple of months she had gained a little weight, she was still sweet, fragile, and knew her gorgeous pouty bottom lip could get her everything.
Sherry was the type Jack was attracted to in a woman, or a man. He had loved both, but had to admit men did it for him more than women. Now, since watching what Cade had with Bret, Jack wasn’t willing to waste time or settle for anything less. So, he would try to get her to understand again.
“I’m sorry, honey. I don’t think that’s going to work out.”
“But, Jack, we have so much fun together. I just bought this new outfit. You would have such a great time taking it off,” Sherry whined.
“Not tonight, Sherry.” Jack winced, knowing this wasn’t going to be easy.
“Well, how about tomorrow then?” she pushed.
“Sherry, honey, I don’t think that’s a good idea. We had fun, but I just don’t think it’s going to go anywhere.” He didn’t want to hurt her, but he knew he was turning a new page in his life.
“Who wants it to go anywhere, Jack? I just want to party together,” Sherry shrilled.
“I do,” Jack quietly replied.
There was a moment of silence then in a quiet voice she said, “Oh, Jack. We did have fun and I will miss you. Bye, Jack.”
“Bye, Sherry,” Jack answered, thinking he might have finally gotten through to her. Sherry had been honest about just wanting to have fun, but she also wanted Jack by her side when she was having it. Jack had been trying to nicely let her down and was thinking that this time she had finally got it.
Contemplating that conversation, Jack was still perplexed at why Sherry would attack Brian. He intended to confront her and set her straight once and for all. He had had enough.
Now he had to go make it right with that pretty little teacher.
Chapter Three
Jack stepped harder on the gas as he turned down the street to the duplex where Brian lived. He would never admit in a million years how he had gotten the address. If a few laws had been broken, so be it. He had to straighten out this mess right now.
Even though it was after midnight and he knew Brian had been through a series of traumatic experiences, this couldn’t wait until morning. It was not in Jack’s character to sit back and wait, he took action.
Parking in front of the two-car garage that Jack knew was Brian’s side of the duplex, he wasted no time jumping out of the truck and getting to the front door. Impatiently he rang the doorbell. After a much too long wait, in his opinion, he saw a glow of light behind a slit in the blinds covering the front window. When the door still didn’t open and there wasn’t any movement that he could hear behind it, Jack rang the doorbell again. Still nothing happened. Jack reached for the door handle and found that it wasn’t locked. Once this situation was straightened out they would be having a discussion on the safety of locked doors. If that discussion led to his hand on Brian’s ass to make the point, even sweeter.
Opening the door, Jack stepped into a dark living room. He could see a light was turned on down at the far end of a hallway leading to the back of the house. Brian was standing at the end of the hallway. He was wearing an old pair of cut off sweat pants and a tee shirt. His tiny feet were bare. Jack could see bandages coving his knees and wrapped around his hands. His eyes were red and swollen from the tears that were still making their way down those peaches-and-cream cheeks.
“Oh, sweetheart.” Jack started forward, intending to take the tiny man in his arms.
“No.” Brian held up his bandaged hands to stop the huge man coming at him. “You better leave before your girlfriend finds out you’re here. Leave me alone, Jack. I don’t want any part of you cheating on her.”
Jack didn’t stop. He not only took Brian up into his arms like he had intended in the first place, but he kept walking until he found the
bedroom. There he kicked off his shoes and didn’t stop moving until he was sitting with his back against the headboard with the little guy securely on his lap. Jack had been told by the paramedics that Brian’s hands and knees had been rubbed raw by the asphalt. He knew by now those poor knees would be swollen and stiff. He also could tell by the temper sparking from those beautiful eyes, if Brian’s hands weren’t so painful under the bandages, Jack would probably have been slapped more than once by now. Instead he could feel his tee shirt becoming damp from the tears dripping off of Brian’s chin.
“I can’t fight you, Jack. Please don’t do this. It isn’t fair to her or to me.” Brian was pleading with him now. And it was breaking Jack’s heart.
“Now you listen to me, sweetheart. And you better listen carefully because I’m only going to say this once. Sherry and I dated on and off over the last year. It was fun, but it wasn’t enough. I’ve been telling her over and over for the last couple of weeks that I don’t want to date her anymore. She just can’t seem to get it through her head. But make no mistake. Sherry and I have been and are done. I talked to her brother, who is a police officer, after everything was wrapped up tonight and he said he would to talk to her. So, as far as I am concerned, I was a free man until I met you.”
“I want to believe you, Jack. It hurt so bad to think you lied.” Brian’s voice was still a bit shaky.
“How about we make a solid vow right now, sweetheart? No untruths between us. From this moment on each of us knows if the other says something it’s the truth. No doubts,” Jack continued. “Look me in the eyes, baby. No lies, only truth.”
Brian was held captivated by the green eyes staring intently into his own. He saw the truth, the vow, and made a decision. “No lies, only truth,” he repeated back.
And then Jack’s lips covered his in a kiss that sealed the vow and made the promise of a future. Brian put his arms around Jack’s neck and pulled him close. The kiss deepened as Jack’s tongue demanded entrance. Opening his mouth, he let Jack into his body and soul. The heavy breathing and hot kisses that followed had Brian’s prick standing up, wanting Jack’s attention. But Jack pulled away and instead of taking his clothes off, he carefully turned Brian onto his side so his back was to Jack’s chest. Then Jack reached down to pull the blanket up from the bottom of the bed, tucked Brian in close, and said, “Sleep baby. We’ve had enough excitement today. Tomorrow is a new beginning.”
Jack woke very early the next morning. He couldn’t help but smile at the warm pretty man cuddled in his arms. He also couldn’t help the rising dick in his jeans that soon pressed against that pert little ass. Now that they had gotten through the Sherry hiccup he was looking forward to building a future with Brian. Knowing that it was still early and they both needed more sleep, he pulled Brian closer and closed his eyes. Absently he made a mental note to call the boss right away in the morning to let him know how things had worked out with Brian.
A small whimper woke Jack sometime later. Brian was halfway across the room, trying to walk in a painful stiff-legged gait, his arms extended out at his sides for balance. It took seconds to reach him and sweep him up in his arms. “Where you going, sweets?”
Brian’s answer was desperate. “Bathroom. Bathroom.”
Jack carried him through the door into the bathroom and much to Brian’s dismay slid his sweats and underwear down to his ankles. It was a relief when Jack left the room to give him some much needed privacy. After taking care of business, Brian was presented with the problem of getting the sweats back up.
“Jack.” He was so embarrassed. He knew in a day or two he would be able to use his hands. But today was not going to be a good day.
Jack was back in the bathroom in seconds. “Here, let me help you, sweetheart. I think you’ll feel better if we cleaned you up a little.” Moving Brian over in front of the sink, he started the hot water faucet. After a few minutes the water was warm and he put the plug in the sink to fill the basin. Grabbing a clean washcloth out of the cabinet, he put the cloth into the water to soak. “I’ll be right back, sweets.”
Jack came back into the bathroom carrying a packet of gauze, a pair of scissors and a tube of some sort of cream. “Let’s take these old bandages off and then we’ll get you cleaned up.”
Brian watched as Jack cut off the old dressings on his hands and knees. Then he took the wet washcloth and proceeded to wash and rinse all of the purple red raw areas. By the time Jack was finished Brian’s hands and knees were oozing blood in some places. Jack’s movements were quick and efficient as he applied cream to all his wounds and rewrapped them.
Covering the washcloth with soap again, he washed Brian from head to toe. Grabbing a towel, he started wiping him dry, starting at his face and then going downward. Brian became frustrated when Jack avoided his straining prick that was standing up in attention by all of his ministrations. Jack then dried each foot and then started up his legs. When he again got to his prick, he dried it gently with the towel.
Leaning forward, Jack dropped the towel and started licking Brian’s cock. Brian’s eyes widened as he watched this huge hunk of a man actually down on his knees in front of him. If he had been near a camera, he would have taken a picture so when he was old and in a wheelchair he could just stare at the sight before him. The rest of his thoughts left as Jack sucked his whole cock into his mouth and swallowed. Then Jack leaned back until just the head was in his mouth. His tongue circled the crown and then thrust into the tiny slit on the end. Bobbing his head Jack pulled the slim prick back in and swallowed again. The man continued to do this over and over until Brian lurched up onto his tiptoes and cum exploded into that talented mouth. It was a good thing that Jack was holding his ass cheeks in his hands to keep him steady because Brian would have fallen to the floor with the force of his ejaculation. Jack swallowed every drop and then licked him clean before rising to his feet and carrying Brian back to the bed and laying him down. Leaning over he kissed him gently. Brian could taste himself in the kiss and even after coming so recently his poor prick started to take interest. But Jack ended the kiss and smiled.
“You rest. I’ll see what I can find for breakfast and then we need to head to my boss’s house for a little while. There is always follow-up paperwork and reports to fill out.”
“I can stay here. I’ll be fine on my own,” Brian assured him. He didn’t really know Jack and for sure didn’t know his boss. He really didn’t belong there.
“Honey, I’m not leaving you alone with your injuries. And I thought we already came to the understanding that I won’t be leaving you alone even after your injuries are healed. You are coming with me.” Jack had his alpha voice on and Brian’s prick perked up even more. But Jack just turned away and headed for the kitchen, leaving him with a few things to think about.
When Brian smelled the bacon in the air, he carefully made his way to the kitchen. He already knew Jack would want to carry him into the kitchen, but he had come to terms with his health issues long ago. Being a premature baby with undeveloped lungs might have made him fragile and delicate, but he was determined to keep trying to do the things he wanted to do.
“Hey sweets, the bacon and scrambled eggs are ready.”
“Smells good Jack, I’m hungry.”
Jack’s eyes raked over Brian, making his prick perk up. “Looks like you could eat a little more, love.”
“I actually have quite a good appetite, Jack. But being a preemie has kept my body from growing as big as you.” Brian figured he might as well let Jack know he wasn’t very strong. Jack was a very large man and if he couldn’t deal with Brian’s health, Brian needed to know about it before things went any further.
Jack went over and lifted Brian in his arms and gave him a kiss. Serious green eyes looked into inquiring blue eyes. “I guess it’s a good thing I’m a paramedic then. I can play doctor and take care of you, and you can let me.”
Brian couldn’t help but laugh and give him a big hug. Brian felt warm inside for t
he first time since the center emergency. Maybe he had found his white knight after all.
Breakfast turned out to be filled with laughter and a few more kisses. The conversation was so very easy. Brian teasing Jack, when he found out Jack didn’t like hotdogs. The wiener jokes kept flowing out of his mouth, until Jack found out Brian didn’t care for butter. Then the tables were turned, as Jack teased Brian that he needed to change his mind. Butter was greasy and made things slippery and smooth. Jack informed Brian he would show him how good butter could be. Brian laughed so hard his sides ached.
Later in the morning found Brian sitting sideways on the backseat of Jack’s crew cab truck, heading to his boss’s house. Even though his knees had loosened up a little, they were painful to bend and the only place to keep them stretched out was the backseat. Jack had put pillows around him and a blanket over him. When he had tried to tell him he was fine, Jack wouldn’t listen. Brian realized then that Jack had been truthful during breakfast, he was a nurturer and Brian was going to have to get used to being cared for.
It was kind of interesting how fate seemed to sometimes match up people. Brian came from a boisterous family that tended to leave him behind. Jack, on the other hand, was an only child, from a conservative family. Unfortunately, when they had found out Jack liked men and women, they refused to have anything to do with him.
That had broken Brian’s heart and he had ended up in Jack’s lap hugging and kissing him, trying to make it all better. After letting Brian love on him for a while, Jack assured him that it had been a long time ago and now he had the rescue team, who were his chosen family.
Besides all of his physical problems, it was Brian’s nature to shy away from conflict. He had made a quiet life for himself, becoming a teacher and working with children. Jack, on the other hand, took life head on, in work and play. Yet, Brian could already see what each needed, the other gave. He was sort of the yin to Jack’s big, forceful, takeover yang.
